The City of Montgomery recreation department offers a wide variety of opportunities for the development of skills for youth. With a variety of topics, we are sure to have a program that will pique the interest of your child.

Safety Village

SAVE THE DATES!

The City of Montgomery will conduct Safety Village this summer for children, ages 5 and 6. Safety Village is a one-week, summer safety camp where children learn about various aspects of child safety. Safety Village is designed to help children make wise decisions in potentially dangerous situations, as well as how to handle emergencies they may encounter.

Safety Village will be held at Montgomery Elementary in three one-week sessions. The first session is scheduled from June 3 to 7. The second session will be presented from June 10 to 14. The third session is June 17 through 21.

Registration for Montgomery residents will be available on April 22.

Tennis Camp

Over the course of two weeks, participants will have fun learning the lifelong skill of tennis. 

  • Mondays and Wednesdays June 3, 5, 10 and 12, 2019
  • Ages 5-7 from 9:00 – 10:00 a.m.
  • Ages 8-10 from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m.
  • Ages 11-15 from 11:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.

Camp is taught by The Club at Harper’s Point Tennis instructors.

Montgomery Cheer Camp

Learn cheer basics, practice your skills, learn new routines, and have fun. This week-long camp will teach and reinforce proper cheer fundamentals all in the context of having fun. Camp participants will receive a t-shirt, bow, and set of poms. No experience required for beginners. *Intermediate registrants should have a mastery of all basic cheer motions and an ability to learn new routines with ease.*

Camp is taught by Jade Stewart.

Jade Stewart is a Montgomery resident, mother of 2, attorney, and former Cincinnati Bengals Cheerleader. Additionally, she has trained other young women to be Professional Cheerleaders, choreographed for cheer teams, judged cheer competitions, and coached Sycamore Youth Cheer.

Beginning Golf Camp

Campers will learn the fundamentals of swinging, putting, and body positioning. Skyhawks has adopted the SNAG (Starting New At Golf) system to its curriculum. SNAG is specifically designed for the entry-level player; SNAG simplifies instruction so that young players can make an easy and effective transition onto the golf course. All equipment provided. Participants will receive a t-shirt.

Multi Sports Camp

Our multi-sport camp is designed to introduce young athletes to a variety of different sports in one setting. For this program we combine baseball, basketball & soccer using size appropriate equipment when needed like adjustable basketball hoops and batting t’s into one fun-filled week. Athletes will learn the rules & essentials of each sport through skill-based games and scrimmages. By the end of the week your child will walk away with knowledge of multiple sports along with vital life lessons such as respect, teamwork, and self-discipline. Participants will receive a t-shirt and soccer ball.

Cartoon Character Drawing Camp

Participants will learn how to draw different well-known cartoon characters! They will also have an opportunity to create their very own characters as well. This cartoon character camp is for all levels of artists–no experience is required.

Comic Book Creation Camp

Participants will explore comic book art and style developed through history. They will choose a style to use in the design of their very own hardbound comic book. They will also learn techniques of creative writing for comic books. This comic art camp is for all levels of artists — no experience is required.

Jr. Ninja Warrior Camp

This active program will help kids develop upper body strength, core stability, balance and most importantly the confidence to take on life’s mental and physical challenges.

Board Game Development Camp (3D Printing & Makey Makey Technology)

Participants will use the latest technology and software to develop their own board game, as well as design and print their own 3D game pieces. Participants will then utilize the Makey Makey Technology to turn their game pieces and boards into touch pads and combine them with the internet to enhance the game. At the end of camp participants will take come their game board, 3D printed game pieces, and the Makey Makey Go Technology to be able to interact with their game at home.

Creative Painting Camp

Participants will gain an introduction to traditional painting and design techniques. This painting camp is for all levels of artists — no experience is required. The focus of the camp will be use of brushes, paint, and learning design development through featured designs that will include landscape or nature related themes. Each child will take home a variety of unique canvas paintings that they create.

Painting & Design Camp

Participants will gain an introduction to traditional painting and design techniques. This painting camp is for all levels of artists — no experience is required. The focus of the camp will be use of brushes, paint, and learning design development through featured themes. Participants in this camp will learn the difference between various styles of art and they will take notes each day of their favorite techniques. They will use they notes from the week on Thursday toward the end of class to begin sketching out their very own design. Friday they will paint their very own painting that they designed using the techniques learned throughout the week. Each child will take home a variety of unique canvas paintings that they create.

Roblox Modification Camp

Participants will use the latest technology and software to create modifications for the Roblox game. Using ROBLOX Studio: 1.) Campers will be able to create anything and release it with one click to all devices, consoles and systems. 2.) Campers will also modify their avatars and creating objects to add to games.
