Assistant City Manager
The City of Montgomery is seeking a responsible and dedicated professional for the position of Assistant City Manager. This position plays a significant role as a member of the City’s senior management team and reports directly to the City Manager. This position assists the City Manager by analyzing, planning, coordinating and assuming responsibility for assigned programs, operations, and services. This position provides a flexible resource in the support of the City Manager for a wide range of programs and projects. Work assignments and focus may change significantly based on the City Manager’s determination of priorities and focus.
The successful candidate must possess strong leadership, management and interpersonal skills; solid written and oral communications skills; and the ability to work well with the public and all levels of internal staff. The successful candidate must also possess experience in local government administration.
A minimum of five years progressively responsible public management experience in a comparable municipal organization or equivalent is preferred. Supervisory experience is preferred. Thorough knowledge of the principles of public administration; knowledge of city management, including Ohio law governing municipal operations is required, along with a Bachelor’s degree in Public or Business Administration or related field. A Master’s Degree in Public Administration or related field is preferred. The successful candidate must pass a background check and drug screen.
