Fences and walls up to six feet in height may be erected in the side and/or rear yard of any residential lot without a permit. In the front yard, fences over two feet in height are not allowed. Fences may be of any standard fence material, including chain link, wood, picket, or split rail, but may not be electrified or have barbed wire. The smooth finished side must face out toward neighboring properties.
If your house is situated on a corner lot, you are considered to have two front yards and it is advisable to consult with a staff member from the community development department to ensure that your fence will meet the zoning requirements before proceeding with your project.
