Mayor Chris Dobrozsi moved to Montgomery in 1998 with his wife, Michelle and family. Chris has served on the Landmark Commission for nine years and is a 2008 graduate of the Montgomery Citizens’ Leadership Academy. Chris has more than 20 years’ experience in office, commercial and industrial real estate development. He has served in numerous volunteer roles including Sycamore Schools Planning Commission, Youth Baseball, Soccer and Lacrosse Coach.

Vice Mayor Lynda Roesch is a partner in the law firm of Dinsmore & Shohl. Her practice focuses on trademark and unfair competition law as well as copyright and intellectual property law. Lynda has actively worked with the U.S. House and Senate on laws relating to trademarks and the internet. Lynda is a twenty-eight year resident of Montgomery, and has served as a member of the Montgomery Arts Commission and the Public Arts Committee. She has served on the Board of the Blue Ash Montgomery Symphony Orchestra for over nine years.

Council member Lee Ann Bissmeyer and her husband, Dan, have been residents of Montgomery for almost 20 years. They live in The Winds neighborhood where they are raising their four boys. Ms. Bissmeyer is a native of Cincinnati and holds a bachelor’s degree in International Business. Her professional experience includes work with the Defense Department in Japan followed by time as an investment advisor with UBS and Fifth Third Securities before staying home with her children. Ms. Bissmeyer has been active in her neighborhood association as well as at All Saints School and Moeller High School. She organizes a yearly Toys For Tots collection and volunteers time for her sons’ lacrosse teams as well as gives time at several local charities.

Council member Michael (Mike) Cappel and his wife, Anne, have been residents of Montgomery for nearly 20 years. He holds degrees in environmental science, natural science and history from the University of Cincinnati (UC) where he currently studies communications. Mike’s professional experience includes four years in water quality testing at the Greater Cincinnati Water Works, as well as 27 years in the Metropolitan Sewer District’s Regulatory Compliance and Safety Division, where he currently serves as an interim treatment supervisor.  He also taught environmental classes at UC’s Blue Ash campus, and served 15 years in the U.S. Army Reserve and Ohio National Guard.  His personal interests include his family, cooking, energy-efficiency and early 20th century history. Mike has volunteered at All Saints Church and served as a volunteer/official with the Blue Ash YMCA Swim Team. In addition to these community activities, Mike has also served on the Environmental Advisory Commission since 2010 and Chair of the Commission from 2010-2015.

Council member Gerri Harbison, her husband and family have been Montgomery residents since 1985. She was elected to Council in 1999. Gerri is a licensed realtor and a Hospice volunteer. She was a member of the Bicentennial Commission in 1994-95 and has chaired the Montgomery 4th of July Festival in the Park since 1995, the Bastille Day Celebration in 1999 and the Sister Cities Commission from 1997-99 after joining Sister Cities in 1996. She was appointed and served as Mayor from December 5, 2005 through December 7, 2011.

Council member Craig Margolis moved to Montgomery in 1994 with his wife Julie and daughter Jennifer. He has served for seven years on the Montgomery Planning Commission, including two years as its chair. Craig is a 2008 graduate of the Montgomery Citizen Leadership Academy. He has over twenty years of experience in Commercial Sales/Project Management with Carpetland/Carpet One. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the Rochester Institute of Technology. Craig has served the community for over 25 years thorough his volunteer work with the Free Store Food Bank, United Way and Community Chest, and the Cincinnati Alzheimer’s Association.

Council member Ken Suer and his family have been Montgomery residents since 1989. Mr. Suer has been involved with Montgomery City government since 1992 serving on the Planning Commission, Board of Zoning Appeals and then City Council since 2001. He has a M. Ed. from Xavier University and a BS. Ed. from University of Cincinnati and spent over 30 years in the field of education holding positions in instruction, counseling and administration. He was appointed and served as Mayor from December 7, 2011 through December 4, 2013.

City Council Meetings

City Council Rules Of Order And ProcedureCouncil shall hold not less than one regular meeting each calendar month. The regular meeting of the City Council is the vital part of the democratic process in the conduct of the City’s affairs. It is at council meeting that laws, policies and basic decisions are made for the government of the City of Montgomery.

All meetings of the City Council are open to the public, and citizens are encouraged to attend to learn more about their City government at these meetings and at public workshops, which are scheduled for special review. City Council meetings are held in the council chamber of the City Hall, 10101 Montgomery Road, at 7:00 pm, unless changed or canceled by motion of City Council  on calendared Wednesdays as set fourth in the Rules and Procedures of Council. City Council by motion may schedule a regular meeting to follow immediately the conclusion of a public hearing, which public hearings typically are scheduled in conjunction with a Work Session. Meeting calendars are available from the Clerk of Council and are listed in the Community Calendar’s monthly calendar.

The Montgomery City Council currently meets twice monthly with one meeting referred to as a “Work Session” and the other meeting referred to as the “Business Session.” The Work Session is held for the general purpose of reviewing proposed legislation for the following Business Session and discussing items of general interest to the City Council, including City Council Committee reports. The purpose of the Business Session is to take action on proposed pieces of legislation, motions, etc. that have been discussed at the Work Session meeting.

Special meetings may be called by the Mayor or by three members of City Council by notice given personally to the Mayor and each member of council or by written notice left at the residence of a member at least twenty-four hours in advance of the time of such special meeting. As well as all City Council meetings, public notice of special meetings must be made at least twenty-four hours in advance of the meeting in accordance with the requirements of the Ohio Sunshine Law.

Any person wishing to present a matter to the City Council is urged to do so in writing prior to 7:00 pm, preceding the meeting. Public statements should be limited to topics within the purview of the City Council. Requests to speak may be submitted to the Mayor, any member of the Council, the City Manager, or the City Clerk. Each person should be requested to limit remarks so that other persons will have an opportunity to speak without undue delay.
