Alegria featuring Suzanne Bona, Audrey Luna and Richard Goering

Local music lovers have spoken. Because of the popularity of the autumn Live at the Uni concert series, the Montgomery Arts Commission will present “Spring at the Uni” debuting Monday, March 6, at 7:00 p.m. The esteemed trio, Alegria, featuring Richard Goering (guitar), Suzanne Bona (flute), and Audrey Luna (vocals) will open the series with an engaging program of Spanish folk songs and music in the Sephardic (Spanish Jewish) tradition.

Randy Villars Band

Randy Villars

The March 20 concert will feature the Randy Villars Band. The Randy Villars Band is a quartet of jazz musicians showcasing its leader Randy Villars on the tenor saxophone. The group’s music consists largely of original compositions by Randy Villars along with creative arrangements of jazz standards. Members of the band include Jeff Mellott, the drummer, Brandon Scott Coleman on Guitar and Matt Wiles playing the Bass.

The 4-Way Quartet

Also scheduled to perform for the 2017 Spring series are: The 4-Way Quartet, who will present an elegant evening by the greatest names in classical music on April 3.

The concert series takes place in Montgomery’s historic Universalist Church, located at the corner of Montgomery and Remington Roads, in the center of Montgomery’s Historic District.

All concerts start at 7:00 p.m. and last about an hour. Post-concert receptions are held and hosted by the Montgomery Inn, right across the street from the church, giving concert-goers an opportunity to meet the performers and to socialize with each other over food and drink.

There is no charge for admission to the concerts, but the Arts Commission suggests a donation of $5 per adult at the door to help defray the costs of the event. Reservations are required, as seating in the church is limited. To reserve your seat for this event, please register online.  Limit four seats per registration.
