Notice: Participant safety and well being is our top priority. Staff have worked to make necessary modifications to classes and are implementing updated health and safety protocols due to Covid-19. Please note that these classes are subject to partial or full cancellation due to COVID-19. We will update as appropriate and will provide appropriate refunds for any cancelled classes that may occur.

Annex with equipmentThe City of Montgomery offers a variety of fitness opportunities for all ages and abilities with a focus on a wide range of development areas:

  • Strength

  • All equipment needed is provided
  • Classes focus on current trends in fitness programming taught by qualified and certified instructors.
  • Classes are held at the Recreation Annex Building (located at 10115 Montgomery Road)

Fitness Class Descriptions

Cardio, Strength & StretchThis class offers light to moderate cardiovascular exercises, light strength training and light stretching for 20 minutes each. The instructor has experience with teaching adults of all ages and will teach to individual’s fitness levels, taking into account common physical concerns of adults and the value of gaining and maintaining muscle strength.

Classes are taught by a TriHealth Fitness Instructor.

  • Tuesday or Thursday Sessions
  • 9:00 -10:00 a.m.

Pilates EquipmentThis class is geared toward using core body muscles (abdominal, obliques, back and gluteal muscles) to get effective results in the midsection. This workout gets results in all the problem places by working on lengthening of the spine, proper alignment and posture, and a strong center to create a slimmer profile.

Classes are taught by a TriHealth Fitness Instructor.

  • Tuesday or Thursday Sessions
  • 6:00 – 7:00 p.m.

Chair YogaYoga is a practice that can be modified to support anyone at any stage of life, and it is never too late to begin! This class is intended to make yoga accessible to advancing seniors and to students with arthritis, injuries or other movement limitations and challenges. Each student will have a chair to assist with balance for some simple standing poses. We will also do many postures seated in the chair and will spend plenty of time on breath work and guided relaxation.

Classes are taught by Registered Yoga Teacher Lisa Walsh.

Yoga classThese classes will explore physical posture and energetic alignment through traditional yoga poses, while building strength and flexibility. Modifications will be offered to make sure everyone gets just what he or she needs, so all levels of fitness are welcome. Classes will begin with a brief centering and end with savasana or meditation. Now offering Beginner Level and Mixed Level classes.

Classes are taught by Registered Yoga Teacher Wendy Andersen.

Beginner Level

  • Wednesdays from 10:45 – 11:45 a.m.

Mixed Level (Two sessions to choose from)

  • Mondays from 9:30 – 10:30 a.m.
  • Wednesdays from 9:30 – 10:30 a.m.

Tai ChiOften called a moving meditation, Tai Chi has its roots in martial arts. The movements are practiced slowly and smoothly with attention to proper posture and breathing. Tai Chi is easy to learn, effective and safe; it increases flexibility, muscle strength, heart/lung activity, aligns posture, improves balance, and integrates the mind and body.

Classes are taught by Master Tai Chi Trainer, Ralph Dehner.

  • Tuesdays
  • 10:20 – 11:20 a.m.

Looking for a class where your child can release some energy and strengthen their bodies while also learning how to focus and feel calm using fun breathing and relaxation techniques? All skill levels and abilities are welcome!

Classes are taught by Yoga Instructor Carly Lawless.

  • Parent/Child Yoga – ages 3-6
  • Kids Yoga – ages 6-8
