Trick or Treat

Halloween

Halloween is an exciting time for kids and adults alike! This year’s Trick or Treat is Tuesday, October 31, from 6 pm – 8 pm, rain or shine. But before your little ghosts and goblins race out to grab as much candy as they can, please read these safety tips.

Walking: Adults should accompany young children and only cross the street at designated crosswalks. Don’t Run! Running can cause kids to trip and get injured. Running also makes it harder for drivers to see you. When possible, always use the sidewalks or walk-facing oncoming traffic. Don’t walk in the middle of the street.

Costumes: Costumes should have light colors to make them easier to be seen. To increase visibility, reflective tape and stickers can be added to clothing and/or bags. Consider using face paint instead of a mask. Masks can obstruct the child’s vision and make it hard for them to navigate in the dark. Many kids wear glow sticks or carry flashlights to help light up where they are walking.

Drivers: If you must drive during Trick or Treat, please drive slowly and be alert. Children are excited on Halloween and may move in unpredictable ways.

Allow extra time to navigate in the neighborhoods and pull slowly and carefully in and out of driveways.

Montgomery Police wish you a Safe and happy Halloween!
