Tips for Volunteers – Volunteers are a precious resource for the City of Montgomery. We want you to be comfortable, safe and knowledgeable in your role as a volunteer. We will do our best to match your skills/interests with our volunteer positions. To help accomplish this, you will be asked to sign a Waiver and Release form. This form is for your benefit as the City provides secondary medical coverage to volunteers should they be injured. In addition, you will be given instruction at your event to make sure that you are comfortable and knowledgeable in your volunteer position. Also, any necessary protective equipment will be provided to you at your volunteer event. To assure your comfort, you will be informed of the appropriate clothing for your event. At large events all volunteers will be identified with a wrist band. You will have a contact person before starting your volunteer shift. You will also have support at your volunteer event from the Citizen Involvement Coordinator, Staff Liaison or a Board/Commission member. Your contact person and/or the support people will make sure you receive breaks and release at the end of your volunteer shift. Everyone will work together to help make sure you have a comfortable, safe and knowledgeable experience as a City of Montgomery volunteer.
Volunteering is a rich and rewarding experience. Volunteering allows you to:
connect with your community –neighbors, City staff, businesses
become involved and make a difference in your community
meet new friends
give back and have a sense of accomplishment
grow as a person
have fun volunteering
Here at the City of Montgomery we value our volunteers and thank you immensely for giving your time to help make the City of Montgomery the wonderful city it is.
