Parks and Recreation Explorer Programs
Montgomery Park Explorer
The Montgomery Park Explorer Program encourages individuals 2 and up to get out and explore Montgomery’s parks. The program includes workbooks for ages 2 to 5 and ages 6 and up. The workbooks provide parents a variety of activities that will engage children in learning about local Montgomery parks in a fun and active way.
Workbooks include a map of the city, as well as the physical address to each location to help find park locations. Workbooks are available online at montgomeryohio.org and at City Hall. Participants can turn in the completed workbooks any time, Monday through Friday, from 7:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the Montgomery City Hall. Completed workbooks will be given back you to keep with a certificate and patch. Patches and certificates will be awarded and details of this will be communicated to the participants during the follow-up.
Montgomery Tree Explorer
Enjoy the new Montgomery Tree Explorer program together as a family. This free program includes workbooks for ages 2 to 5 and ages 6 and up. The workbooks provide participants with a variety of activities that will engage them in learning about local Montgomery trees in a fun and active way.
Workbooks include a map of the city, as well as the physical address for each park where the trees are located. Workbooks will be available online at montgomeryohio.org and City Hall starting Aug. 15. Once completed, participants can turn in the workbooks any time, Monday through Friday, from 7:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Montgomery City Hall, 10101 Montgomery Road.
A member of the City recreation team will review the workbook and follow up with the participant. Completed workbooks will be given back to the participant to keep along with a certificate and patch. Patches and certificates will be awarded, and details of this will be communicated to the participants during the follow-up.

Halloween Coloring Contest - thru Oct 26

Turn in your masterpiece to City Hall by Oct. 26 at 4:30 p.m.
Winners will receive a ‘spook’tacular fun prize package!

Kids Tree & Nature Walk - Oct 29
Join City Arborist Terry Willenbrink and Recreation Specialist Sarah Fink on October 29
for a FREE Kids Tree & Nature Walk.
Kids: Ages 5-8
Where: Meet at Pioneer Park Gazebo
Time: AM Session – 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. (limited to 10 kids per session)
PM Session – 1:30 – 2:30 p.m. (limited to 10 kids per session)
Cost: FREE! Registration is required.
Includes: Nature walk to collect items and explore the creek, woods and trees of Pioneer Park.
Nature walk will conclude with a free craft in the Gazebo. Parents are encouraged to follow along during the walk and craft.

Recreation To Go provides a complete kit with boredom busters that will keep the kids entertained at home while at home from school for Fall Break!
Each kit is just $5 and will include 2-3 age appropriate activities per kit.

School's Out Paintball Trip - Sold Out
When: Monday, Nov. 9, 2020 from 9am – 5 pm
Registration opens: Sept 1, 2020
Registration closes: Oct 30, 2020
Kids ages 10-14
Cost: $60 per child (includes paintball equipment, fun activities, pizza lunch & snack
Meet and Return: Swaim Park small shelter. We will meet at and return to the upper level parking lot on Cooper Road. We will travel by bus to Paintball Country.
Important Information: Due to updated health and safety protocols, this trip will be limited to 36 students.
