On October 13, the Ohio Kentucky Indiana Regional Council of Governments Board of Directors officially approved federal funds for Surface Transportation Program and Transportation Alternative projects totaling $77 million distributed among 42 projects. The City of Montgomery was successful in receiving grant funds for the following projects:
- Surface Transportation Program grant in the amount of $6 million for proposed interchange modifications at Ronald Reagan Highway & Montgomery Road to include a roundabout, traffic signal, minor road widening, and the removal of an existing bridge.
- Transportation Alternative grant in the amount of $386,680 for the Montgomery Road Sidewalk Phase II Project to include construction of a concrete sidewalk on the east side of Montgomery Road from Radabaugh Drive to the Safety Center.
The OKI grant of $6 million represents approximately 70 percent of the total estimated construction cost of $8.6 million, and the project is currently programmed in the Ohio Department of Transportation’s (ODOT) fiscal year 2020.
The City of Montgomery continues to partner with ODOT, the Hamilton County Commissioners and the Gateway Partners LLC to develop the interchange modification project as well as the overall site plan and proposed development at the Gateway Redevelopment Area (GRA).
An initial open house was held on Aug. 31 for residents and businesses located adjacent to the GRA site to review traffic alternatives and the general site plans being proposed. As the project planning progresses, more details will be shared on this website as well as in future Montgomery Bulletins. Additional open house meetings are planned as well, and will be scheduled for the public to review proposed plans and provide comments on the project.
