"Green" house coming to Vintage Club

The Vintage Club, the new mixed use neighborhood being developed by Great Traditions between Montgomery Road and Weller Park, will be the site of the first inaugural Cincinnati Magazine "Design Home 2008." A collaboration of Great Traditions Homes and the magazine, this unique house will serve as an "idea home" that will explore progressive trends in building, including the Green building movement.

The house will seek "silver" accreditation under the U.S. Green Building Council’s Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED), according to Doug Hinger, President of Great Traditions Homes. Site design features will include use of indigenous plants and permeable concrete to reduce water runoff, while the house will feature Energy Star Appliances, the use of local building products, and installation of a geothermal system to reduce the use of energy for heating and cooling. Hoffman and Albers Interiors is responsible for the interior design.

The house is scheduled for completion in September, at which time a preview party will be held. Public tours will be available through the middle of October. Proceeds from these events will benefit the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, Southern Ohio Chapter.

The house will be featured in a special section of the October issue of Cincinnati Magazine.

The Design House 2008 will continue the emphasis on unique, high quality residential living that the Vintage Club is developing and will be a welcome addition to continuing a level of excellence that Montgomery’s neighborhoods provide.
