Montgomery Hosts 6th Annual Recycled Sculpture Contest

Recycling MascotThe City of Montgomery and the Environmental Advisory Commission is proud to announce the fifth annual Recycled Sculpture Contest. The contest is open to all children and adults who live in the City of Montgomery.

All sculpture entries must be made from items that can be recycled in the City of Montgomery Curbside Recycling Program.  Entries must not be taller nor wider than 24 inches, and can be no heavier than 10 pounds.

To enter the competition, pick up an entry form at City Hall.  You may also request a brochure by mail, by calling 891-2424 or by download a copy from our website.

All entries must be received by July 13th at 5:00 p.m. at City Hall, 10101 Montgomery Road.  The Environmental Advisory Commission will be judging all qualifying entries.  Winners will be announced and entries will be displayed at the Universalist Church on July 17th at Bastille Day.

This contest will give people an opportunity to use their creativity and develop a sculpture that not only educates those who see it about the value of recyclable materials, but also allows them to receive a prize for their creativeness.

Eligible sculpture components include:

Plastic

Newspaper and mixed paper

Carton/Cardboard

Beverage & Steel Food Cans

Glass

The City and Environmental Advisory Commission is committed to educating residents about the importance of recycling.  This contest is a means of encouraging recycling and purchasing of items made from or packaged in recyclable materials.
