Independence Day activities

July 4Parade

Montgomery’s long time, patriotic tradition-the Independence Day Parade, will kick-off at 10 am on Friday, July 4th.  Parade participants will depart from various assembly locations on Cooper Road, proceed east to Montgomery Road and travel north to Montgomery Park where the parade will disperse.
This year’s parade will be even bigger and better with a plethora of floats, vintage cars, military units, and official Town Crier, the Nolan Carson Memorial Color Guard, elected officials, the Syrian Clowns and the Blue Chip Jazz Band.  And, the parade would not be complete without the annual appearance of the Sycamore High School Marching Band and the Santa Goody Bag Band.

Bikes on parade

Decorate your bike and ride in the Parade!  Meet at 9:45am at the Montgomery Elementary parking lot on July 4th and bike to Montgomery Park in the Independence Day Parade.  All youth, ages 5 and up are invited to be creative with your bike by adding streamers, cards, tassels, balloons, flags, flowers...anything you can think of to celebrate Independence Day!  Plan to do some decorating at home and then put on the final touches with us before joining us for a patriotic ride!  Rendezvous at City Hall carport for a free squirt gun and popsicle plus three free tickets to use at the Fourth of July Festival in the Park! 

Montgomery July 4th Festival

Join us for a down home Americana festival celebrating America's Birthday!  The family- friendly festival runs from 11am to 2pm, immediately following the Independence Day Parade, at Montgomery Park (10101 Montgomery Road).  The Blue Chip Jazz Band and Waiting on Ben will provide musical entertainment for the Independence Day celebration.  Kid’s games, pony rides, food booths from area restaurants, the popular Pet Show, a moonwalk and more will be featured at the event. All of these things add up to a great family fun day!

Pet Show

Dogs, cats & exotics will enter the ring to show off their talents and fine features for a coveted blue ribbon at the annual Montgomery Pet Show.  Registration will be offered from noon to 1 pm with judging beginning at 1:15 pm.
