Heritage District streetscaping plans to get public reviews
Talk with anyone about Montgomery and most will mention the City’s attractive Heritage District. During recent years the Heritage District has undergone changes, additions and some maintenance projects by both public and private sectors.
During the development of the 2008-2012 Capital Improvement Program budget, City staff included a recommendation for the replacement of streetscape along Montgomery Road as a prioritized project funded over a two year period beginning in 2008.
The final “preliminary” concept for this streetscape replacement project should be completed by early June. The current plan is to replace the streetscape on the east side of Montgomery Road between Cooper and Remington Road in 2008 and to complete the streetscape replacement on the west side of the road in 2009.
The City will conduct open house discussions during mid to late June to gather input from the community about the plans for the project. Dates for the open house will be listed on the City’s website and a direct mailing will be sent to all of the businesses directly impacted by the work.
Due to the sensitive nature of the work and the high amount of pedestrian and vehicular traffic in the area supporting local businesses the project wil include standards and specifications for work to be done at times that will have the least possible impact on pedestrian and vehicle traffic.
