PFEIFFER PARK: small but great
At only 2.6 acres, Pfieffer Park is one of Montgomery’s smallest parks. Tucked into the southwest corner of Montgomery and Pfieffer Roads, and surrounded by mature trees, this park provides a pleasant rest stop for runners, dog walkers and families out for a stroll. It also provides a quiet area for employees of local businesses to have lunch and take a break from their busy day.
While Pfeiffer has fewer amenities than some of the other Montgomery parks, its playset and tennis courts get plenty of use, due to its central location and connection to the city’s sidewalk system. The toddler-friendly playground is well-shaded, and is only a short walk from many neighborhoods. The tennis courts also provide a rebound backboard, making them convenient whether you are playing with a partner or just want to practice your stroke.
Pfeiffer Park also has a fountain and small gazebo, adding to its relaxing atmosphere. Although the park is located at a busy intersection, the calming sound of the fountain creates a peaceful environment for visitors. The gazebo offers additional seating, and is beautifully decorated in winter with a lighted Christmas tree.
Although the park itself is set back from the intersection, many people are familiar with its trademark sculpture that can be seen along Montgomery Road. "Family Outing," created by Gary Price, was donated to the City by the Grieb family in 1996. This sculpture truly represents the character of Pfeiffer Park, as both a family destination and a place to take a break along the way.
