Q. What is the construction schedule?
Montgomery Road - work is substantially complete and water main filling and testing is underway
Schoolhouse Lane and Tollgate Lane - Water main installation along Schoolhouse Lane between Tollgate Lane and Montgomery Road is complete. Clean up and restoration work is underway.
Castleford Lane - Work began on August 9 just north of the intersection of Castleford Lane and Delray Drive and will end at the north end of the cul-de-sac. Work is set to be completed by September 17.
Cooper Road - Work is complete. Filling and testing of the water main is set to begin September 13.
Delray Drive - Work is complete. Clean up and restoration work is underway.
I-71 crossing between Castleford Lane and Jolain Drive-Work to tunnel a 60 inch diameter pipe casing beneath all lanes of I-71 between these two Montgomery roadways will be complete on September 10. Installation of water main will begin September 13 and continue for 7-10 days.
Jolain Drive- Work has begun on Jolain Drive. One crew is working between Knollbrook Terrace and Tollgate Lane. Work will continue on this project phase through October 15. A second crew is working west of Zig Zag Road and will work in an easterly direction toward Knolllbrook Terrace. This project phase is expected to continue until October 15.
Jolain Drive trash pick up notice: Trash pickup will take place at 7:00 a.m. to ensure all households are collected prior to the 8:00 a.m. construction start time.
Q. How can I receive construction updates?
Construction updates will be posted regularly to the City of Montgomery website and also on the Greater Cincinnati Water Works (GCWW) website at www.Cincinnati-oh.gov/gcww. Updates will also be available on the construction hotline, (513) 792-8345, or can be sent via Facebook and Twitter.
Q. When will water main installation be completed? When will roads be repaired/resurfaced?
By October 15, all water main installatio nis expected to be complete.
Roadway repairs and resurfacing is expected to follow this schedule:
- Cooper Road and Delray Drive-mid to late September
- Montgomery Road- late September to mid-October
- Schoolhouse Lane, Tollgate Lane and Jolain Drive Road- late October to mid November.
Q. Will my water service be interrupted?
As this is a water transmission main project, local water supplies should not be interrupted by construction of the water main. As part of the Cooper-Delray project, all fire hydrants along Delray Drive between Cooper Road and Castleford Lane will be removed and replaced resulting in brief water service shutdowns. Prior to any planned water service interruption, affected residents will be contacted.
Q. Will police and fire departments be able to get through road closures at all times?
Yes. Greater Cincinnati Water Works will be coordinating its work with Montgomery Police and Fire Departments to ensure emergency services will remain available at all times.
Q. What do I do if an emergency vehicle needs to get by me during construction and lane closures?
As is the case during any time you are driving and emergency vehicles approach, please “drive to the right for sirens and lights.”
Q. Will construction equipment block the sidewalks?
Generally speaking, sidewalks will remain open during construction except if sidewalks are damaged or under repair from installation of the water main.
Q. Who is responsible for these water main transmission main projects?
Greater Cincinnati Water Works (GCWW) has contracted with Sunesis Construction to complete the portion of the project that includes work on Cooper Road and Delray Drive. Work on Castleford Lane, Jolain Drive, and portions of Tollgate Lane, Schoolhouse Lane and Montgomery Road is under contract with Smith & Brown Construction. A GCWW inspector will be on-site during working hours of each project. Both contractors will be working closely with GCWW and the City of Montgomery throughout all phases of construction.
