Public Safety and Education
Fire Department personnel are continually searching for areas in daily life to address safety concerns with the general public. Through its various programs & classes, the fire department encourages people that live and work in Montgomery to become more active participants in providing our community a safer environment in which to work, play and live.
All school bus drivers receive training in proper evacuation procedures and practice under blinding smoke conditions. School fire and tornado drills are monitored and evacuation routes are modified based upon the results. Before prom, students are presented a motor vehicle accident re-enactment to impress upon them the serious consequences faced by everyone directly and indirectly involved in the accident.

We also are involved with local businesses besides doing fire prevention inspections. We provide instruction using portable extinguishers and work with local health & nursing care facilities establishing & practicing emergency evacuation procedures. Scout groups, neighborhood associations and groups as small as one child with their parent or guardian, have come by for a tour of the station and equipment; happily provided and always associated with a safety message.
