Arts Commission
Purpose  To foster and promote the visual and performing arts within Montgomery.
Activities  Photography Contest, Bastille Day Celebration, Fine Arts Sampler, Public Art Project, Antiques Appraisal and Artists in the Park

Beautification and Tree Commission
Purpose  Develops a yearly plan for the care of trees, shrubs and flowers in public areas.
Activities  Activities Beautification Week flower planting, Beautification Awards, Arbor Day Celebrations, Tree City USA recognition, Plant Swaps, Downtown Holiday Decorating and hanging basket planting and tree workshops

Board of Tax Review
Purpose  To hear appeals of persons dissatisfied with rulings or decisions made by the Tax Commissioner for the purpose of affirming, reversing or modifying such rulings or decisions.

Board of Zoning Appeals
Purpose  Holds public meetings to review variance requests and appeals regarding the City zoning code.

Civil Service Commission
Purpose  To ensure that all appropriate civil service examinations and procedures are applied for appointments and promotions in the classified service of the city and are made according to merit.

Landmarks Commission
Purpose  To provide for the preservation of Montgomery’s historical, architectural and archaeological heritage.
Activities  Making recommendations to the Planning Commission and City Council on matters of legislation and development that may affect the city's landmarks or heritage and working for the continuing education of the City's residents and businesses to foster greater awareness of the City's heritage.

Parks and Recreation Commission
Purpose  To improve the quality of life of Montgomery citizens through development and maintenance of an integrated park system and comprehensive recreational program.

Activities  Developing a long term plan for the City's park system while focusing on current safety standards, reviewing the recreation program and monitoring the pool policy.

Planning Commission
Purpose  Reviews and makes recommendations on zoning, development, and variance requests, subdivision proposals and code amendments.
Activities  Members prepare studies and surveys, plans, reports, and maps as necessary to plan for the growth, development, redevelopment, rehabilitation and renewal of the City.

Records Commission
Purpose  To review record management procedures to ensure that they follow guidelines established both at the local and state level.
Activities  Review schedules for records retention and applications for one-time records disposal pursuant to state guidelines.

Sister-Cities Commission
Purpose  To work towards “bringing the world together one friendship at a time.” Montgomery’s Sister City is Neuilly-Plaisance, France.
Activities  The July Fourth Parade, Bastille Day Celebration, professional and student exchanges, the International Reception.
Meetings  Third Tuesday of the month, 7pm, City Hall

Environmental Advisory Commission
Purpose  To develop practical ways in which City Council, its Commissions, and City residents can responsibly use our resources so that Montgomery, Ohio is an environmentally-conscious community in which to live.  Among these will be educational programs and initiatives on environmental issues including recycling, composting, storm-water management, reducing litter, air and noise pollution, green building processes, and protection of our natural resources.
