Patrol Office Examination Announcement – The City of Montgomery is accepting applications to establish an eligible list for the full time position of patrol officer. Completed application with $15 registration fee (check or money order made payable to “City of Montgomery” – no cash) must be submitted at Montgomery City Hall by 5:00 p.m., Wednesday, December 31, 2014. A written exam will be conducted at Sycamore High School (7400 Cornell Road, Montgomery, Ohio 45242) at 9:00 a.m., Saturday, January 17, 2015. A basic fitness test will be administered for the top 25 test scorers on Saturday, January 31, 2015. Applicants must be a US citizen, possess a valid driver’s license, be 21 years of age and possess an associate’s degree or the equivalent of two years of course credit from an accredited college or university. Ohio Peace Officer Certification is also required to take the exam. Successful applicants must be able to pass a CVSA, psychological and medical exams, and an extensive background check. Director of Finance – The City of Montgomery is accepting applications for the position of Director of Finance. This position plays a significant role as a member of the City’s senior management team and reports directly to the City Manager. Responsibilities include overseeing all financial reporting, investing, accounting, purchasing, payroll and budgeting functions of the City. Serves as financial advisor to the City Council and City administration. Successful candidate must possess initiative; strong leadership, management and interpersonal skills; solid written and oral communications skills; and the ability to work well with the public and all levels of internal staff. Must possess experience in municipal finance administration including experience in preparation of annual operating, capital, and tax budgets; preparation and coordination of information for external audits; and preparation of Comprehensive Annual Financial Reports (CAFR) and Certificates of Estimated Resources (CER). Some knowledge of municipal tax collection operations preferred.
Minimum of 5 years of experience in a comparable municipal finance department or equivalent with supervisory experience required. Extensive knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and accounting practices for governmental funds; and a bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or related field required. Master’s Degree in Business or Public Administration or a Certification in Public Accounting (CPA) preferred.
