Yost Tavern (c. 1805)
Located at 7872 Cooper Road
National Register Building
This simple wood frame building was both a home and a place of business for Abraham Yost, who operated the tavern. It was situated at the junction of two Indian trails, the Shawnee and Miami. Yost Tavern was a thriving business as wagon trains brought produce from Columbus, and Montgomery was the last overnight stop before Cincinnati. In 1870, White Miller purchased the house, and the property remained in the Miller family until 1968 when Montgomery Kiwanis Club purchased the structure to ensure it was not demolished. Kiwanis turned the building over to the City of Montgomery in 1979.
