Jonathan Crain House (c. 1845)
Located at 9441 Main Street
This fine example of Federal architecture was built by Jonathan Crain. In a newspaper interview on October 17, 1925, Mary Crain Kennedy said the flagstones at the front, and leading to the back of the house, had been laid by her father before the house was built. They are still in place today. She said she was three years old when the family moved there, and she had lived there for 80 years. The Crain name is seen on many deeds in Montgomery. They were the pioneers who moved in with the second wave of people coming to this area.
