Located at 9423 Montgomery Road

The Ayers family were early settlers who came from Ulster County, N.Y., in 1799. James Ayers was the original owner of the house. He was a ship builder, as was his grandfather, in New York state. In 1829, James was elected Justice of the Peace. An anchor memorial window, in the church on Shelly Lane, honors the shipbuilding members of the Ayers family.
