yard wasteStarting on February 27 residents can start placing yard waste out for Rumpke collection on their regular day of trash collection.

Residents are limited to three containers of yard waste per week at no charge.  Containers can be 30-35 gallon trash cans, paper yard waste bags or bundles of brush not exceeding four feet in length or 50 pounds each. Yard waste stickers can be purchased for items exceeding the three-item limit either at the Montgomery Kroger or at Montgomery City Hall at a cost of $2 per sticker.

The City will again conduct the Spring limb pickup in April. Watch the Montgomery Bulletin for the dates for that special pickup.

people raking leavesFrom October 31 through December 2, Rumpke will provide unlimited pick up of yard waste, including leaves. This pickup will occur on the normal trash day in each neighborhood. During this time, yard waste stickers will not be needed. For pick-up, do not place yard waste in plastic bags. Debris must either be placed loose in cans or in paper yard waste bags. Branches must be bundled and leaves must be placed in cans or paper yard waste bags.

Beginning February 28, weekly yard waste collection will resume at no charge for all one and two family residential homes. The program limits collection to three bags, cans or bundles at each residence (or one 90 gallon yard waste toter). Additional bags, cans or bundles require one $2 Rumpke Waste Sticker per item. Additional 90 gallon toters will require three stickers each after the first toter. Stickers are available at Montgomery Kroger or Montgomery City Hall during regular business hours. Loosely place yard waste in trash cans or in paper yard waste bags, which are commonly available at grocery or hardware stores. If the material is being placed in a garbage can, please be sure to label it as “yard waste”.  Place yard waste on the opposite side of the driveway from regular trash so crews know it is yard waste. Leave the lids off cans containing yard waste. No plastic bags will be accepted. Brush should be bundled in sizes up to four feet in length and two feet in diameter. The material should be fastened with cotton twine (no wire or plastic ties, please).  Limbs also need to be cut into four foot lengths and can be no larger than six inches in diameter.

Don’t forget, starting November 1 through December 3, 2010 there will be unlimited pick up of yard waste, including leaves. This pickup will occur on your normal trash day during the weeks specified. In addition, during this time yard waste stickers will not be needed.

Do not put yard waste in plastic bags, it must either be placed loose in cans or in paper yard waste bags; branches must be bundled with cotton twine; leaves must be placed in cans or paper yard waste bags.
