When winter storms bring accumulating snowfall, City crews will dedicate their energy and efforts to ensure safe travel. Residents can provide helpful support by staying updated on weather conditions. As weather worsens, crews may be required to begin plowing operations. This may directly impact residents through the declaration of a Snow Emergency, which temporarily prohibits on-street parking on every City street in the community until snow plowing operations are complete.

During the winter season, residents will be kept apprised of conditions through a variety of information media. During Snow Emergency declarations, the City of Montgomery will utilize the CODERED notification system sending an automated phone message to every Montgomery resident that has registered on the City’s website to receive CODERED updates. The City also will issue media releases to the four major TV stations in Cincinnati (WLW-TV 5, WCPO-TV 9, WKRC-TV 12, and WXIX-TV 19) regarding Snow Emergency declarations indicating that on-street parking is prohibited.

Residents can also find information regarding Snow Emergency declarations on the City’s website, by becoming a Facebook fan, via Twitter, or by calling the City of Montgomery Snow Line at 792- 8345 for recorded messages that are updated approximately every 3 hours during snow removal operations.

The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) Emergency Alert System (EAS) will be tested nationally on Wednesday, November 9th, at 2:00 pm EST.

The EAS test will impact broadcasters, cable television systems, wireless cable systems, wireline video providers, satellite digital audio radio service providers, and direct broadcast satellite service providers, all of whom are required by law to participate in the test.  This test will last about 30 seconds, resulting in television and radio interruptions, and in some cases, total blackouts of broadcast and satellite services.

For years, Montgomery has subscribed to the CodeRED® emergency contact system, which transmits thousands of calls in minutes to alert residents of urgent information. Residents are now able to select the types of notifications they will receive. The City will continue to use CodeRED® for both emergency notifications and urgent messages; however, residents can now elect to receive only emergency notifications or all notifications. To ensure correct contact information is in the CodeRED® database, visit the City website at montgomeryohio.org/codered/ and click on the “Update Contact Information” link at the top of the page. Those without Internet access may call 891-2424 Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. for help. Required information includes an actual street address (physical address, no P.O. boxes) for location purposes and a primary phone number. To receive email and text messages, individuals will also need to enter the information necessary to send text versions of the notifications.

Bansal Construction Inc. has provided the City of Montgomery with a work schedule to complete the Pfeiffer Road at Storybook Drive Improvement Project. Weather permitting, the project is anticipated to begin on Monday, March 14, with substantial completion of the project expected by the first week of June. During construction, traffic will be maintained through work zones. No lane closures on either Pfeiffer Road or Storybook Drive will be permitted from 6 to 8:30 a.m. or from 3:30 to 7 p.m., Monday through Friday. The project will be comprised of upgrades to the traffic signals at Pfeiffer Road and Storybook Drive, including a natural gas generator which will power the system during electrical outages, ADA compliant crosswalks, drainage improvements including approximately 600 ft. of storm sewer installation along the south side of Pfeiffer Road east of Storybook Drive, and a new sidewalk adjacent to the Gateway Falls between Storybook Drive and the NB I- 71 entrance ramp.
